Location

1. The Rationale for Location Selection

The location must be within an environment that supports the “Professional Grade” status of the practitioners. The criteria include:

  • Environmental Calm: The site needs to be free from significant industrial noise, high-density traffic, or environmental stressors that could distract the practitioners during their 4.33 hours of daily sessions.

  • Accessibility for the Roster: Since 200 practitioners must “turn up” twice daily, 7 days a week, the location must be within a viable commuting distance for a stable population base.

  • Symbolic and Strategic Integration: The location should reflect the project’s role as a “Social Utility.” Just as a power substation is placed strategically to feed the grid, the Peace Project site is the “substation” for the state’s collective consciousness.  Although the effect will be measurable in state-wide statistics, the closer the group is to Adelaide, the more benefit the residents of that city will experience.

  • Cost-Effectiveness for the Budget: To keep the $750,000 infrastructure and admin budget sustainable, the site must offer a balance between professional-grade facilities and manageable lease/utility costs.

2. Application to Mt Barker

Mt Barker is a strong candidate for this rationale for several reasons:

  • Natural “Low-Stress” Baseline: Mt Barker offers a significantly quieter and more nature-integrated environment than the Adelaide CBD.

  • Demographic Growth: As one of the fastest-growing regions in South Australia, Mt Barker provides a large and diversifying pool of potential “Coherence Professionals” who can commit to the long-term 18-month training arc and continuous employment.

  • Regional Centrality: Mt Barker serves as a bridge between the city and several rural regions, symbolically representing a project that serves the entire state, not just the metropolitan centre.
